About

picolina is the work of Sarah Farquhar-Still, a studio jeweller based in Launceston, lutruwita/Tasmania. Her work is characterised by understated elegance, minimal forms and the interplay between line, texture and contrast.

A largely self-taught maker, Sarah’s former career in the museum sector shaped her interest in pairing old world craftsmanship with contemporary design. Her collections embrace modern silhouettes while using traditional metalsmithing techniques, balancing observations of the natural world with the geometries and repetition of the built environment.

Each piece resonates with refined simplicity and discrete textural details, highlighting the quality of craftsmanship - its imprint and imperfections, with no two pieces exactly the same.

Values

picolina was founded with an appreciation for traditional craftmanship, sustainable practices and longevity front of mind. With a considered approach to design and fabrication, I work with recycled metals, primarily 925 silver, and other recycled or reclaimed materials. Each piece is made by hand in my Launceston studio, and produced in small quantities or made to order to ensure there’s no over production of styles or material wastage.

All picolina pieces are packaged with eco-certified FSC Mix recycled gift boxes, 100% recycled cotton business cards, and unbleached kraft envelopes.
